Step up to who you truly are and be the singer you’ve always imagined.
Julie Bale

Hello Singers,
I'm Julie Bale
Performance Coach for Singers & Hypnotherapist
I'm a Soprano, Voice Teacher, Choral Conductor & Clinical Hypnotherapist, I use vocal technique and/or hypnotherapy to help singers and conductors feel completely in their power in performance and in their lives. I've worked in the music industry for over 30 years studying voice and vocal pedagogy with Janice Chapman.
This is my Story
I'm absolutely passionate about vocal technique. I love everything about learning more about voices and how they work. Over the years I have helped hundreds of singers move forwards with their singing though developing a really secure vocal technique and at the same time I've always, always wondered what it would be like to be the performer I am when I'm practising in my head. Or when watching a student I would wonder if they were going to perform as brilliantly as they did in our last lesson and I wanted to find a way that a singer is not at the mercy of their nerves.

I took a yoga teacher training a few years ago and found that I just loved giving guided meditations and my singing students felt so much better when we started lessons with a short bit of mindset work. I decided I needed to know more and became aware of how hypnotherapy could help singers even further.
I qualified as a Clinical Hypnotherapist with a Diploma which is accredited to the National Council for Hypnotherapy and the most robust qualification in Hypnotherapy which is a HPD. I wanted to do this because having the highest qualification I could get was important to me. The NCH have a code of ethics and professionalism which I fully endorse.
The more I studied, the more applications for singers I could see and I became very excited to try out these tasks with singers. I did, and the results have just been uniformly excellent! For me, what is so great about working with this model of hypnotherapy is that it is evidence based and knowing there are so pretty much as far away from "Woo Woo" as you can get (though to be fair, I do like a bit of woo!!)
With hypnotherapy I've found tools that work for me and for the singers, conductors and performers I work with and I'd love to share them with you too. I want to share them with all singers because I really feel that we spend so much time, effort, energy and money on our art and the addition of some of these tools can make a great difference both to our performances and our lives. I've also been a yo-yo dieter for nearly 50 years and have never been confident in my body, one day I had a lightbulb moment and realised that we could use hypnotherapy to create the same effects as the new weight loss wonder drugs, and so Hypnotic Semaglutide was born. Now I lead small groups every 6 weeks through a weight reduction and body confidence course which I absolutely love and which is having tremendous results.
A bit more about me..
I've worked with singers at all levels of the profession. After a first degree in Music & German, a PGCE and a diploma from the Royal College of Music, I have trained for over 20 years in Singing and Vocal Pedagogy with the amazing Janice Chapman AUA MOA and I've been Resident Singing Teacher with a number of prestigious choirs including London Oriana Choir.
I've sung extensively in Opera and Oratorio.

In opera I've sung Leonora Fidelio (Dorset Opera - Cover and Opera Herts, Conductor Phillip Thomas) and Helmwige Die Walküre (Berwick Festival Opera, Conductor Peter Selwyn) as well as the Mozart Heroines Donna Anna, Fiordiligi and Countess Almaviva. I've done a lot of recitals and I regularly perform Strauss Vier Letzte Lieder, most recently at Ely Cathedral. I enjoy leading workshops with choirs all over the UK on Vocal and Performance Technique and I am also the conductor of Northwood Choral Society.
